Martine ALISON, FRANCE

Description of the Artwork
At this time of year, far from the summer crowds, Saint-Tropez has rediscovered the unique and peaceful charm of a fishing village...
Today, with Martine Alison's work, Saint-Tropez rhymes with summer and tea rooms!
She offers us a truly delicious escape, a message of sweetness and indulgence.
Our artist took the liberty of moving the terrace of this beautiful institution, the Sénéquier, for the duration of this work...
For this sweet break, I, Léo the toucan, was allowed to perch on the iconic Sénéquier armchair, which is a flamboyant red.
I can thus chaperone this beautiful young lady who is enjoying an ice cream!
She's not the only one!... The dashing Betty Boop has also sat down to enjoy an ice cream sundae from the menu! In the distance, you can see the bell tower of the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church.
In 1986, Paul Signac painted the bell tower of Saint-Tropez.
It has four sides with three, not four, clocks! Why is that?...
It's the side facing Sainte-Maxime that doesn't have one. The church of Sainte-Maxime didn't have a clock.
The rivalry between the two villages led the people of Saint-Tropez to declare that the people of Saint-Tropez didn't need to know the time!
That's the stuff of legend!
