No hats. No gloves. No suits.
For the first time in my work – beings without artifice, without props, without the trappings of social life.
Just two bodies speaking to one another in their own language.
They are white and the background is dark – they illuminate one another, they carry their own light into this nocturnal garden. And on their bodies – not clothes but patterns, floral arabesques imprinted upon their very skin. The setting is not around them. It is within them.
Their long muzzles brush against one another – this is not the human kiss, hesitant and laden with meaning. It is something older, more direct. Two beings who recognise one another by their breath, by their scent, by that sense which humans have forgotten how to use.
Their bodies curl towards one another – their long legs, their graceful tails form a single shape together. A single gesture.
I wanted to paint tenderness before language.
Before words, before conventions, before white gloves and hats.
Two beings who find one another simply because they recognise one another.
That is enough.
