This work is part of Hélène Vac’s ongoing exploration of Atlantic coastal landscapes, here seen on the way back from the beach, crossing the dunes toward the inland. It belongs to a series of variations based on the same composition, this version being developed in light violet tones.

In the distance, the village of Contis emerges, alongside the dense line of the Landes forest, rendered in deep violet. The lighthouse draws the eye and slightly stands out from the silhouette of the rooftops.

The palette is built around variations of violet, both light and dark, combined with pale pinks and touches of fluorescent pink that activate the surface. A hint of soft green introduces a subtle warmth within this indeterminate atmosphere, between dawn and dusk.

The painting unfolds through flat areas and visible gestures, in a free and spontaneous execution. The landscape is simplified into colour masses, allowing for a sensitive reading, between appearance and disappearance.

Balancing between figuration and abstraction, the work does not aim to describe a place precisely, but to convey a light, an atmosphere, a suspended moment.
