Contemporary landscape painting, acrylic on paper

This work is part of the ongoing pictorial research of Hélène Vac on Atlantic coastal landscapes, particularly those of Contis and the Courant. It depicts boats at rest, reinterpreted through a contemporary approach to colour and composition.

This variation extends the painting "Boats at Rest, Crepuscular Yellow, the Courant, Contis" by shifting the palette toward blues and pinks. Rather than reproducing the scene, the artist transforms the perception of the landscape through colour relationships and spatial tension.

Executed in acrylic on paper, the work is developed through successive washes, combining transparency, layering, and fluid gesture. Blue tones create atmospheric depth, while touches of pink introduce contrast and activate the surface.

Based on photographs and memories reworked in the studio, the image gradually distances itself from its original source. This process allows the landscape to evolve into a more open and expressive composition, where colour becomes the primary structuring element.

Positioned between figurative painting and abstraction, the work offers a contemporary reading of landscape, focused on light, atmosphere, and perception.
