Series Pink Hours

Inspired by Pereire Beach on Arcachon Bay, this painting belongs to the Pink Hours series, where the landscape is shaped by the shifting light of dusk or early morning, between intensity and softness.

The sea unfolds in a vivid fluorescent pink, set behind pine trees in deep violet-brown tones, punctuated with a few variegated accents. A touch of blue reinforces the almost unreal atmosphere. A few boats, barely suggested in the distance, provide scale and open up the depth of the composition.

Drawing from photographs and memories, Hélène Vac seeks to capture a reimagined moment of contemplation. The landscape becomes a point of departure, transformed through colour and gesture. The chromatic shift, here pushed toward a saturation of pink, alters perception and creates a tension between reality and projection.

The painting develops through a free, open gesture, where the mark remains visible. Without aiming to describe in detail, flat areas, lines, and points retain their breathing space, allowing the eye to move and suggesting the continuous motion of the landscape.

Colour acts as a space in itself, capable of conveying sensation rather than representation, while maintaining a minimal figurative anchor, pines, sea, horizon, that allows the viewer to situate themselves within the image.
