Part of the Hourtin series, this painting reinterprets a single landscape through a search for balance between sky, treeline, and water. The composition unfolds through flat areas and visible gestures, playing with layering and transparency.

In the foreground, reeds sketched like a form of writing inscribe themselves across the surface, creating a distance between the viewer and the lake and tree masses. This linear motif acts as a filter, a threshold between the gaze and the landscape.

The contrast between dark masses and luminous areas structures the space. Bright greens, derived from mixtures with fluorescent yellow, activate the surface and extend into depth.

The landscape partially dissolves into the gesture. An unstable vision, between appearance and disappearance, where colour constructs sensation more than motif.
