Biography

Presentation

Trained in fine woodworking and upholstery, I délevoped an early sensivity to matérial, précision, and handcraft.
Drawing has always been central to me practice, naturally leading me toward printmaking.
Linocut became my chosen médium for its direct relationship between gesture and matter.
I créate limited édition, hand-printed works inspired by rétro and vintage aesthetics, where poetic simplicity meets strong contrasts.
My work explores the présence of the printed image within contemporary intèriors, conceived both as an artwork and as a living, sensitive object in everyday space.

About

Born in 1977 in Bordeaux, France

Trained in traditional crafts, with qualifications in fine woodworking and upholstery, Maylis Renon has developed a practice deeply rooted in material and gesture.
Drawing, present since chilhood, forms the foundation of her work and naturally led her toward printmaking, which now lies at the core her artistic approach.

Trough linocut, she explores a visual language inspired both by the graphic precision of Maurits Cornelis Escher and Philippe Mohlitz, and by the narrative and aesthetic univers of illutrators such as Norman Rockwell, Jon Wihtcomb, Norman Saunders, and Gil Elvgren.

Produced in limited editions and-printed, her linocuts combine precision of line, strong contrasts, and rétro atmophères.
Her work reflects on the presence of the printed image within contemporary spaces, conceived as a sensitive and enduring element of everyday life.
