"Seules les limites que nous nous imposons, nous enferment. Ouvrons notre esprit et notre cœur à un champ infini et non stable : le Monde. Nous comprendrons ainsi que l'art ne doit être ni limité, ni statique. Je ne suis que l'humble traductrice de ce fragment d'infini dans lequel nous vivons, en mouvement et constante évolution." (Severine C.)

Biography

Presentation

Severine C. Camus is a French author and visual artist, whose multifaceted work extends from painting to design, including scenography or photography. Self-taught, she escapes the categories of gender, although her art approaches expressionism and fauvism, through the use of colors and the subjectivity of forms. She also introduces in her work a dreamlike part. His painted or constructed universes sometimes reveal themselves very vivid or colorful, sometimes more intimate. She seeks aesthetics, while playing with imperfection, and signs all her works on the left, vertically. The signature also becomes an object of art.

Her attraction for architecture, social scenes or "art nouveau", are found in her proposals on large format canvas. Time is often represented by a clock, man by hands, mouths, bodies barely drawed. It is the subjectivity of reality, which is not one, that interests her.

For Camus, art is at the service of the greatest: a place, a wall, a room, an object, a universe. The painting or image is no longer central, but becomes part of a larger painting.

Apart from the scenography, the artist, discreet, only paints 4 to 5 masterful artworks per year, in order to give her paintings a touch of desire. The desire to create, the desire to share, the desire to transmit, but also the desire to own. She voluntarily breaks with the codes of a noisy part of society, where art also becomes a source of saturation.

About

Severine C. Camus embraces art early during childhood. Painting, drawing, writing, music and theater mark his steps, until the Conservatory of Dramatic Art at sixteen years old. But she abandons the artistic path to pursue a classical higher education in International Trade, Agri-Food, then in Law of Vine and Wine. She falls in love with wine, and spends seventeen years in the wine world. She cut her teeth at a first Classified Growth of Bordeaux owned by businessman François Pinault, where she learns the culture of excellence. She then evolves on other structures. Her last functions as Human Resources Manager for the Bordeaux properties of the prestigious Champagne House Louis Roederer, come to establish her experience in demanding environments.

She changes her career path to become a therapist, traines in several fields and approaches, and experimented with modified states of consciousness. She also teaches courses in the Master, works free in an Hospital, takes an interest in addictions. She puts her therapeutic exercise in parentheses at the end of 2019. She first reconnects with writing, then with art. She formalizes her status as an Artist-Author in 2022.

What becomes a quest leads her to create several collections on canvas and paper, revealing over time a semi-abstract and dreamlike multiverse, then opening up to scenography and design. She begins to create tailor-made for private living spaces, and exhibits her works starting in 2023.

In 2024, she launches a project that involves transforming a pair of shoes into an object of art for an inspiring personality. She begins with Simone Zanoni, Starred Chef of the restaurant Le George at the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, then chooses in 2025 the Pastry Chef Nina Métayer, twice elected best pastry chef in the world.

She publishes the same year "Le Complexe de la Pieuvre" (The Octopus Complex) with Vuibert editions (group Albin Michel), and create "The Kube": an artwork is painted in 5 variations, thus offering a 3D creation in a kaleidoscope. The formats thus expand, stretch, spread out.

From her atypical journey, Severine C. Camus retains a taste for aesthetics, beauty, poetry, while advocating the decompartmentalization of universes and imperfection. She questions the link between Human and his environment, including the living in the broad sense, time and space, but also gender identity as a reflection of a constantly changing society
